I was on my way to my first rugby practice of the year when I stumbled upon this Autoshop/dealership specializing in land Rovers called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on RT9 in Framingham. Most of the trucks were Series 1 and series 2 there were some defenders and some older Discoveries. I got to talk to one of the mechanics, play on there rock pile and check out there shop full of restorations. most of which were body off frame up resto's! Photodump below.

Arr, avast.
1st one, the pastel green, is a ~'65-67.
Can't date the 90 that well, though I think it's a "Ninety" and not a Defender as such (i.e. pre 1990, post ~'85)
The Series I is an '86', so late 50's pre-'58.
The IIa/II pair are a (year unknown) on left, possibly ~61 II based on its hardware options. A power capstan *and* what look like extraordinarily rare Mayflower auto-locking hubs. Def. a brit import. On the right is an early II, probably ~'58.
The IIa 109 pickup is an odd bird, it appears to be ex-mil based on the lights and frame setup. Probably ~62, as it has a quite old style of taillights.

The series one was a 52' and I believe he said the pickup was an ex military unit. Out of all of them I was hankering for the first one. It was beautiful, well equipped, and you could tell it had seen its fair share of action, but the pickup was a close second. I thought these were a lot more expensive than they were. I might have to start saving for one because I am in love.

It's amazing the people who think they need a Defender when a Series is so much cheaper. Defender prices have driven them up some, but not all that insanely. They're still in reach, if pricey.

As much as I like the defender, i would probably rather have a series II anyways. I never really got to spend a lot of time around one until yesterday. Up until yesterday the only 4x4 I would rather have than my Jeep was a Pinzgauer. but after getting to check out these puppies first hand I would also add a series II to that small list.

The Series II, plainly put, is a Defender's farmer uncle. Less bullshit, more in common with a tractor, rough around the edges, and stumbles home drunk pretty regularly.

So cool, although I strongly prefer the patinad ones over the restos.

We don't have enough people in my little town for 15's. the first couple years we started traveling we'd take 7 or 8 players to a tournament. Talk about gassed...

I hear ya, our 15's team usually ends up showing up to tournaments with between 13-17 players so most of the time if your playing your playing a full 80min.
